An online application does not always mean an open account
Ukrainian rules provide for remote identification, including BankID and electronic documents. However, the bank determines the actual procedure and product availability. An 'Open a card' advertising button alone does not guarantee completion without additional steps.
Which banks to compare
The original review covered Monobank, PrivatBank, Raiffeisen Bank, A-Bank, PUMB, izibank, Sense Bank, Kredobank, Bank Credit Dnipro and PRAVEX BANK. This is a checklist, not a claim that each currently opens any account remotely from any country.
First choose two or three banks for the product you need. Then check registration as a new customer, rather than the issue of an additional card for somebody who has already been identified.
What to ask before applying
If you are abroad, clarify residency, access to the required documents and receipt of the physical card in advance. Account opening and card delivery are separate processes.
- Which documents and tax number are required?
- Can every stage be completed from your current country?
- Is a virtual card available before the plastic card arrives?
- Which account details are issued for international transfers?
- What do crediting, exchange and withdrawal cost?
Choose an account for how the money will be used
Different tariffs may suit cashless purchases and cash withdrawals. First determine the currency in which the recipient will spend. Then compare the entire path from the sender's payment to use of the funds.
Do not choose a bank solely for free account opening: recurring fees and an inconvenient receiving method can outweigh that saving.
