Skrill: the wallet and international money transfers

The difference between a Skrill balance and Money Transfer, their fees and withdrawing funds.

The wallet and Money Transfer are different scenarios

With Skrill, distinguish transfers to another wallet user from the international Skrill Money Transfer service. They have their own rules and fees. Money on the balance does not mean that balance can fund every international transfer.

The UK Money Transfer terms specifically exclude using a Skrill balance to pay for this service. For another country, open the terms applicable to your account.

Which costs to check

Skrill says wallet transaction costs depend, among other things, on the user's level. Do not therefore apply a Money Transfer offer to wallet top-ups or withdrawals.

  • The top-up fee for the chosen method.
  • Currency exchange when currencies differ.
  • The sending cost for the selected transfer type.
  • Withdrawal and any receiving-bank fee.

How to compare with sending directly to a bank

Set the same budget and receiving currency. If one route leaves money in a wallet while another credits a bank account, add withdrawal costs to the first: otherwise the results are not comparable.

Check identification requirements, country availability and payment method before topping up. Do not load a wallet solely for a route that has not yet been confirmed.
