Ukrainian bank fees for receiving money from abroad

How to compare crediting, conversion and withdrawal without mixing tariffs for different operations.

One 'bank fee' line is not enough

The total cost includes the sender's payment, international sending, possible intermediary deductions, crediting and subsequent use. Free crediting does not mean free withdrawal.

The previous article compared Monobank, PrivatBank, Oschadbank, A-Bank, Raiffeisen, Universal Bank, Ukrsibbank, Sense Bank, PUMB and OTP Bank. Old percentages cannot be used as their current universal tariff: the product, currency and transfer channel are needed.

Why the card type matters

At PrivatBank, the tariff for receipt and subsequent withdrawal depends on the product. For example, the Universal card and payout card terms must be checked separately. For Monobank, also open the current tariff for the required card rather than applying another product's terms.

How to make a fair comparison

Fix the same total debit for the sender. Calculate crediting for each bank, then add what the recipient will do: keep the currency, exchange it, make a purchase or withdraw cash.

  • Record the card name and account currency.
  • Find the tariff for the specific incoming channel: card, SWIFT or a partner system.
  • Check who pays intermediaries.
  • Compare what remains after the recipient's intended operation.

If the same amount reaches two banks

Do not look for a difference where there is none: the same direct hryvnia transfer may produce identical crediting. The choice then depends on convenience, subsequent transfers and withdrawal.

SmartPay compares only bank routes with available data. A bank's absence from SmartPay does not mean it cannot receive international transfers.
